No exploration of Japan is complete without visiting Mt. Fiji, revered since ancient times. The snow crowned summit has become a symbol of Japan and can be reached by hiking. To better understand and appreciate the power of Japan during the middle ages, a visit of the historic Kamakura is a must. The place has numerous temples and shrines and has sandy beaches and wooded hills for hiking as added bonus.
While visiting Tokyo, it would be nice if Yokohama, just 30 minutes away by train, were added to the itinerary. The city is a futuristic new center and has the biggest Chinatown in Japan.
