Events and happenings in our Tokyo travel guide



Tokyo celebrates its culture through the many events celebrated throughout the city. Major festivals or events include Sanno Festival at Hie and the Sanja Festival at the Asakusa Shrine. Matsuri, a parade of elaborately decorated floats and thousands of people is held in several cities and Tokyo has Kanda Matsuri every two years.

An enormous display of fireworks every last Saturday of July attracts over 1 million viewers. Every spring when cherry blossoms are in full bloom, many residents and visitors gather in many parks for a picnic under the cherry trees. Cherry blossoms are Japan’s pride seeing it in bloom always make all Japanese proud.
