Boston City and Travel Guide
Boston Aims to Be Crime-Free City
Not many people know this but the city of Boston, in the state of Massachusetts of the United States, is the first US city to permit anonymous tips about crimes to be sent to officials via text. This initiative falls under the Boston Police Crime Stoppers Program, which maintains the toll free number so that members of the public can do their part to resolve unsolved crimes. If the offender responsible for a crime is apprehended and eventually indicted, the person who reported the crime can receive as much as $1,000 for his assistance.
The Crime Stoppers Program
All types of crimes can be reported. The Crime Stoppers Program has in fact been implemented in over 900 cities throughout the world, with great results. The Boston program is funded by the nonprofit Boston Police Foundation, which also gives the cash awards to the people who report crimes. Making Boston crime-free is good not just for tourism, but for business as well, especially since Boston is presently the economic and cultural locus of the New England region.
