The Dutch eat about five times a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, 10:30am coffee, and 5pm borrel. This is why there are a lot of restaurants found in Amsterdam to cater to their voracious appetite. They also mirror the different cultures found in Amsterdam, from the different Asian flavors such as Indonesian, Thai, Pakistani, Chinese, to the European and American dishes.
Dutch fare is simple although substantial, consisting of fresh vegetables, potatoes, followed by chicken, meat, and fish, then a salad, and lastly, a dairy-based dessert. Most restaurants are enclosed in hotels, found near the main road, and within the city center.
